Speculation from the end of RSURS (spoiler!)

quix — Tue, 07/29/2008 - 18:14

So how does everyone think Locke is going to get out of the poison? I've wracked my brain about it, and the only thing I can figure is that either the Bondsmagi will find out (or Jean will tell them) and they'll magic it away so that they can prolong their torment of him.

I'm curious if Sabetha plays a role in solving this dilema

my question is, is there really a poison? no one knows for sure

I would like to think that Lynch would not trick us like that for however many books that plot thread lasts, but it is a valid point.

I think it's pretty clear from the blurb for tRoT that the Bondsmagi will offer Locke a solution to the poision problem. Heck, the Alchemist they visit in Tal Verrar states pretty clearly that a Bondsmage could purge the poison from Locke and Jean's bodies.

I'm really curious to meet Sabethia after all the build up. I have to wonder if writing her character is what is slowing SL down. She's got a lot to live up to including Locke's now unrequited love for her that has survived a number of years without any apparent temptation on Locke's part to stray.

Unfortunately, we have no idea what is taking so much time for book 3. I doubt it is Sabetha, though, and more in the realm of "life issues".

The Bondsmage, I'd imagine, have much more of a part to play in the overall story.

If the TRoT blurb is to be trusted, it IS the bondsmage who cure him. They agree to save him if he agress to help them during an important political affair among the bodsmage. That's where Sabetha comes in - after hearing about Locke's involvement the opposing political party employ Sabetha to counteract any of Locke's attempts to thwart them. I really, really cannot wait to see how it all pans, especially if Locke and Sabetha are going to be rivals in this (although it's hinted they were rivals back in their teenage years too). I'm so excited!

Silly question. Is SL now supporting himself with his novel writting? I really hope he's okay. It is odd that he was so active online then shut down in 2007.

Oooo... anyone know if Lynch is going to the World Fantasy Convention in Calgary? He could certianly answer questions about status if he's there. I believe he was at the WFC last year in New York State.
