LoLL Read Along

ravelle — Mon, 01/26/2009 - 10:23

Hi everyone!

Who's interested in a read along?

Simple idea for those new to the concept : each week we agree to read, say, three chapters. On the Saturday we write up our thoughts and opinions on the chapters just read in a forum thread and have a good old chinwag! It allows everyone to reread the books with a slightly more critical and, for some, engaged manner as well as having people to talk and discuss the plot lines with. As we go we can also fill out the archives for the main site.

We can have some no spoilers rules if there are people new to the series who wished to join in. If you're interested I'll be starting this with a kick off thread on the 1st of February. Post here if you want to take part, all you'll need is a copy of the Lies of Locke Lamora book. We'll be going at a steady pace to account for different reading styles, and hopefully as we finish book two the long awaited Republic of Thieves will be released!

Tell your friends! Get everyone involved!

I'm not doing a read along as

Elfy — Tue, 09/29/2009 - 10:20

I'm not doing a read along as such, but I am reading Lies for the 4th time. I'm not really a rereader. I will do it, but generally only when a new installment of a series is due out or I have a completed series. It's extraordinary for me to reread something this many times, to me it's a testament to how damn good Lies is.
Just yesterday I reached the point where Locke, Jean and Bug return to the house after the Gray King tried to get Barsavi to kill Locke. I knew what was coming with the Sanza's and I just wanted to stop reading at that point, because maybe if I did it wouldn't happen. That was a huge OMG moment when I first read it, now I hate getting to that bit because it makes me sad.
There's another scene before that one where all 5 of the Gentleman Bastards are waiting to go into action with Locke as the Gray King and they do their whole liar/bastard shtick. That is actually a pretty funny scene, but now it's touched with poignancy because I know that's the last time all 5 of them saw each other alive.

In an effort to keep things

TheSpider — Mon, 05/17/2010 - 23:04

In an effort to keep things moving and a bit less sour than recently, I would love to participate in a read along - if other people are interested...
