Glossary

Blackjackets: Camorr’s army.

Capa: The title given to the individual who rules Camorr’s underworld.

Catbridge: the name given to the slender, elderglass bridges branching across the canals in Camorr.

Contrarequialla: a specially armed gladiator.

Don/Dona: Title given to Camorri nobility.

Falselight: The time between darkness and daylight; similar to our twilight. This unusual state of luminosity can be witnessed only in Camorr.

Garrista: The name given to a leader of a gang in Camorr.

Gazer: Term for someone who uses the drug 'Gaze'.

Gentled: The term given to an animal that has been subject to Wraithstone.

Judicial Forfeitures: An execution method in Camorr shown at the Shifting Revel. Men and women are thrown into the water and must attempt to slay the beasts lurking within the depths.

Penance Bouts: A spectacle in Camorr where petty criminals can lessen their sentences or attain better living conditions by partaking in combat with one of the Duke’s guards at the Shifting Revel.

Pezon: The name given to an underling of a garrista in Camorr.

Secret Peace: An agreement between the criminals and nobility of Camorr that prevent robbery of the latter.

Teeth Show: A spectacle in Camorr held at the Shifting Revel. Contrarequialla fight wolf sharks on unsteady platforms floating atop the water.

Wraithstone: A substance used to permanently pacify animals; they become utterly soulless and are therefore easy to manage. Was once used on criminals as punishment. Eyes turn white after use.

Yellowjackets: Camorr’s constabulary force. Also named ‘the watch’.
