The Gentlemen Bastards

The members:

FATHER CHAINS
LOCKE LAMORA
JEAN TANNEN
CALO & GALDO SANZA
SABETHA BELACOROS
BUG

The Gentlemen Bastards is the name of a gang created by the Eyeless Priest, Father Chains, to corrupt the Secret Peace of Camorr. The members are con artists, who fool the common people into thinking they’re initiates of Perelandro, and also fool the Right People into thinking they’re average sneak thieves. Using these disguises, they are able to conduct intricate confidence games that swindle money from anyone naive enough to buy their act.

The original members of the Gentlemen Bastards are: Father Chains, Sabetha Belacoros, Calo Sanza, Galdo Sanza, Locke Lamora and Jean Tannen. However, in The Lies Of Locke Lamora the members are: Locke Lamora, Jean Tannen, Calo Sanza, Galdo Sanza and Bug, with Locke replacing Chains’ role as garrista.

Their place of residence - their ‘head quarters’, if you will - is a secret underground facility hidden beneath the Temple Of Perelandro, often referred to as a ‘burrow’. It is constructed from Eldren Glass and is a highly sophisticated environment furnished with numerous stolen objects acquired by Chains over the years. It can be entered by ladder, which leads up to Chains’ fake sleeping pallet in the actual temple, or by a few hidden exits that branch off from the main bulk of the hideout. The floor is polished planks of wood that ‘creak pleasantly beneath the feet’ and though it is never made completely clear, the hideout consists of perhaps two rooms: the kitchen, which also acts as a dining area, and the bedroom, where wooden partitions section the room into makeshift sleeping quarters.
