There's an article in the latest issue of Entertainment Weekly about this. A phenomenon, apparently, and perhaps the future of entertainment. Whedon put a lot of his own money into this. It looks like it may be out on DVD eventually.
I tried the first couple of episodes of Buffy. I'm sure I would probably get into it, but I can't afford the financial commitment right now to watch the series.
I loved Firefly, and I'm really looking forward to Dollhouse in January.
