Carousel Hazard

mindflare — Mon, 03/02/2009 - 00:15

So, I was talking to a friend of mine (who likes to drink quite a bit), about the Gentleman Bastard sequence (seeing as he also likes to gamble), Red Seas Under Red Skies in particular, and mentioned Carousel Hazard. He seemed quite interesting, and without my book, I can't look anything up about it and was going by memory. Any ideas of how to play it? He seems rather interested in doing so in real life. lol.

Haha. Well, it's kind hard to say. The rules of the card game itself aren't really explained, and the cards are different to our cards in design anyway. By the sounds of it, you have to get a run of the same design (so like, 2,3,4,5 in hearts etc). I got that presumption from:

'"Ladies show a run of Spires and a run of Sabres, crowned with the sigil of the sun,' the attendant said. 'Gentlemen show a run of Chalice and a mixed hand, crowned with the five of Chalices. Fifth hand is to the ladies.'

And then Locke and Jean had to have a shot of a randomly chosen liquor. So if you played it in real life you could put shots of different spirit in unlabelled bottles and chose one at random somehow.

Not that I'm encouraging gambling or anything (hey everyone has to have a hobby, right? hehe) ;)
